Fun never gets old - Oredev 2026

Space Jam's 1996 website is a wonderful time capsule. It has been exactly the same since its creation, to promote the movie, in 1996. Creating this layout back then required a complex HTML table with multiple rows and columns, with cells spanning several rows and columns, and hard coded sizes. Lot's of markup, fixed image sizes, carefully placed empty space. It works great for the screen its authors had in mind. But the layout and the document structure are tangled together. No separation of concers. No responsiveness, very little consideration for accessibility. Doing this today would be much simpler, with modern CSS layout primitives, fully accessible with semantic markup, responsive, and maintainable. [view source]
