Apps like Dreamweaver were a huge help. They let me turn those visual designs into pages with actual content and even a little interactivity. I loved rollover effects, for example. Dreamweaver could generate JavaScript that swapped images when you hovered over or clicked a button. If you wanted a fancy button that reacted to the user, swapping images was pretty much the way to do it. Images were the name of the game. We wanted to reproduce, on this new web medium, exactly what we'd created in our graphic design tools.
